Award Categories

Residential Architecture

Projects in this category encompass all architectural work that is residential in use, including single-family and multi-unit housing, and projects in rural, suburban, and urban environments.

Projects may be submitted in the following sub-categories:

• Houses – New Construction Under 5,000 sq. ft.
• Houses – New Construction Over 5,000 sq. ft.
• Houses – Renovations & Additions (please make clear delineation between ‘before’ and ‘after’)
• Townhouses and Apartments
• Ancillary Structures (projects that work in support of a larger structure or development)
• Multi-Unit Projects

Commercial, Civic & Institutional Architecture

Projects in this category encompass all architectural work that is non-residential in use.

Interior Design

Projects in this category focus on the interior design and decoration of spaces, and will be judged on the quality of the work independent of the interior architecture.

Projects may be submitted in the following sub-categories:

• Houses
• Townhouses & Apartments
• Commercial, Civic & Institutional
• One Room (projects should focus on a single interior room or space)
• One Room: Kitchen and Bath

Landscape Design

Projects in this category encompass all work associated with the landscape and natural environment, and may be located in rural, suburban, and urban contexts.

Historic Preservation

Projects in this category recognize achievement in restoration, preservation, and adaptive reuse of historic structures of high architectural caliber. Entrants should demonstrate the process as well as the finished product.

Craftsmanship & Artisanship

Projects in this category represent works of arts and crafts created as a permanent element of an architectural project. Entrants should be directly involved in the specific design or execution of the work.

Student Project

Projects in this category should represent work completed in an academic setting within the past 5 years. Active students may submit projects located in New York, New Jersey, or Fairfield County, Connecticut. Recent graduates who are currently employed at an ICAA member firm in the awards region may submit any student project, regardless of location.

Eligibility & Instructions 



Projects must conform to one of two eligibility requirements:

Either Option 1:
Projects must be geographically located within the region encompassing New York, New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Entrants are not required to be based within these borders.

Or Option 2:
Entrants must be based within the region encompassing New York, New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Projects may be located in any geographic location or region.

All projects, excepting those in the Student Project category, must have been completed after January 1st, 2007.

All entrants must be members of the ICAA.

Schedule

Submissions for the 2017 Stanford White Awards are now closed.

The Stanford White Awards Presentation and Reception will take place on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 6-9pm at New York’s Metropolitan Club.
