Dionysus with Panther

Description:

All that remains are the legs of Dionysus, the Greek god of merriment, with a small lion-like creature and decorated column on the left side. This is not a cast of Dionysus, but a 17th century completed part to the Greek original.

Provenance: Metropolitan Museum of Art

Condition: Damage to right side of animal figure. Piece is not a cast, but rather, the original marble.
