Picturing the American GardenRegister Now!

Sam Watters presents in his illustrated lecture the story of celebrity photographer Frances Benjamin Johnston (1864-1952) who pioneered garden photography at the turn of the 20th century. For two decades, Johnston photographed estate gardens, from Rhode Island to Virginia, from New York to California, and produced colored lantern slides she projected at garden clubs, museums, and societies to promote a more beautiful America.
