Hosted by the Washington Mid Atlantic Chapter
Columns & Coffee is a monthly social sketching excursion led by the L'Enfants, the emerging architects branch of the ICAA-WMA. Anyone with an interest in sketching and/or connecting with other artists and architects are encouraged to attend. This month, the group will be sketching at the Folger Shakespeare Library. This library is among the earliest “stripped classical” designs of Paul Cret, developed as a compromise to appease both the classically-minded Commission of Fine Arts and the classicism-averse client, Henry Clay Folger. He would go on to use a distinctive mix of Beaux-Arts, early Art Deco, and early Modernism to great success in other buildings and monuments. Participants should be prepared to bring their own materials. The group will meet at Le Bon Cafe at 2nd and Pennsylvania Ave SE at 10:00 AM, sketching for about 2.5-3 hours, and people are welcome to come and go as they please.
This event is hosted by an ICAA Chapter. Please check the Chapter website, or contact the Chapter directly, for the most up-to-date details including dates, times, and pricing.
