Theory of Proportion: A Perennial Pathway of BeautyRegister Now!

1 Session Intensive: Saturday, February 11, 2012; 10:00am–1:00pm; 2:30pm–5:30pm

An intensive one-day seminar in lecture and demonstration format including an explanation of the Pythagorean and Platonic concept of symbolic or qualitative number, the derivation of the ancient musical octave, a discussion of the Golden Section as a geometrical “logos,” and the connection of these ideas to the numerical canons of classical architecture. The course may be taken as an introduction to these ideas or as a review for those who have some background with the subject. Participants should bring a compass and straightedge.
