In Your Neighborhood: The Luykas Van Alen House in Kinderhook, New York with John B. Murray

    By ICAA

    August 18, 2020

John B. Murray, of John B. Murray Architect, takes viewers on a tour of the Luykas Val Alen House in Kinderhook, NY.

The ICAA is excited to bring attention to the classical and traditional architectural and design elements, decisions, and features that make the places we live more welcoming and beautiful, as part of our new In Your Neighborhood series.

We welcome additional entries, and want to hear from you!

If you are interested in proposing a location, please contact [email protected].

Lead Sponsor of the In Your Neighborhood series: AE Greyson General Contractors

In his local town of Kinderhook, New York, architect and ICAA Board Member John B. Murray takes viewers on a visit to the beautifully-preserved Dutch Colonial house, the Luykas Van Alen House, built in 1737.

Take a journey to this one-of-a-kind house in the latest installment in the ICAA's original series, In Your Neighborhood, which in this case includes aerial footage and a deep exploration of the details of this home's proportions, construction methods, and historical significance.
