What You Will Learn

  • Be familiar with the following materials and processes: Selection of pigments, paper (including stretched frames), brush types, miscellaneous palettes, etc.
  • Be able to create or to be familiar with: Studies of shade and shadow values, color wheel construction, use of warm - cool color contrasts, and distance scaling of color.
  • Have an introduction to and a familiarity with:  Brush Technique, Application of basic controlled washes, graded washes, dry brush, wet in wet techniques, and use of masking fluid.
  • Have an understanding of Composition: Use of freehand perspective techniques, manipulation of foreground, middle ground, and background in architectural rendering, horizon placement, and creative expression.
