Franklin Street Bridge: Northeast Corner of Franklin & Wacker
Join the Luminaries Young Professionals for our first in-person event of the summer!
Chicago is home to the second most moveable bridges of any city in the world. Stroll along the sparkling Chicago River as you learn about the architectural heritage of the famed moveable bridges that have become one of the city’s most iconic backdrops and engineering feats. The walking tour will be approximately 60 minutes at a leisurely pace, beginning at the Franklin Street bridge and concluding at the Michigan Avenue bridge, with afternoon cocktails nearby.
The tour will be led by Taylor Stein, architectural designer at Craig & Company and graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Taylor was named the Luminarts Cultural Foundation’s 2019 Fellow in Architecture. The event will be co-hosted by Kendra Swartz, designer at Soucie Horner and committee member of the Luminaries.
Prints of hand-drawn bridgehouse renderings, created by Taylor Stein, are available for sale through his Etsy Shop .
