Hosted by the ICAA Washington Mid-Atlantic Chapter
Join the ICAA for a guided tour of the department of Agriculture with Thomas Hoffman, AIA, director of Facilities management. Started in 1930 by architects Rankin, Kellogg, and Crane, the series of limestone clad buildings are WPA built structures in Neoclassical form with streamlined detailing. The structures are not entirely void of ornament however, with highly detailed limestone Corinthian columns flanking the front entry and relief panels between windows depicting animals native to the United States.
