25 minute gesture drawing by Don Yang
In this figure drawing workshop, students are introduced to basic concepts and practice of figure drawing from live model. Through various drawing exercises and mediums, students will explore shape, proportion, rhythm and dynamics of
human form. Students will also create a proportionate rendition of human figure by using measuring technique and block-in method. Emphasis will be on creating a convincing representation of human figure on paper.
Instructor: Don YangAfter serving 7 years in the U.S. Army as a medic, Don returned to his childhood dream of living as an artist by training at the American Academy of Art College in Chicago, where he earned a BFA with honors and later an MFA with emphasis on fine art and traditional illustration. Don has been teaching oil painting, drawing and artistic anatomy in and around Chicago for the past 26 years including at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts and the American Academy of Art College where he is currently serving as chairperson of Fine Art Department and Foundations Department.
