Hosted by the ICAA Philadelphia Chapter | 3 Credits towards the Certificate in Classical Architecture (Hand Drafting) | 3 AIA CES Learning Units|Elective
Prior to the advent of computer-aided drafting and design (CADD), architects employed manual techniques, including paper and pencil, to create precise technical documents. These drawings were meticulously crafted for construction purposes but also represented a form of artistic expression that is increasingly rare. This course will introduce students to traditional hand drafting tools and techniques once utilized by architects. Through hands-on activities, participants will acquire fundamental drawing skills including line types, line weights, lettering, and shading (poché). These newly acquired skills will then be applied in the process of drafting/tracing basic building plans, elevations, and perspectives.
All materials will be provided.
