Hosted by the Washington Mid Atlantic Chapter | 1 AIA LU
Join the ICAA and the National Civic Arts Society for this lecture and book signing by Professor James Stevens Curl of his book “Making Dystopia, the Strange Rise and Survival of Architectural Barbarism.” Curl will tell the story of the advent of architectural modernism in the aftermath of WWI, its protagonists, and astonishing global acceptance after 1945. The triumph of architectural Modernism in the 2nd half of the 20th century led to massive destruction, the creation of alien urban landscapes, and a huge waste of resources. However, the coming of Modernism was not inevitable.
AIA CE credits are available for this lecture.
This event is hosted by an ICAA Chapter. Please check the Chapter website, or contact the Chapter directly, for the most up-to-date details including dates, times, and pricing.
