Hosted by the ICAA Southeast Chapter
The work of Michael G. Imber Architects has always been in response to the land - the terrain a home rests upon or within, the culture from which it springs, and the materiality which ultimately shapes its form. Together, these elements inform a sense of place in each unique project and color the perspective of those who experience its beauty.
In recent years, the work of the firm has developed beyond natural landscapes and the typologies of the house. As they have begun to explore more urban settings and campuses, their projects have expanded to include mixed-use, institutional and ecclesiastic projects. In this discussion, MGIA Partner Mac White demonstrates that although the breadth of the firm’s practice has evolved and expanded over time, the connection to the land and the pursuit of beauty has remained central to the spirit of MGIA’s work.
With a tenure of more than 25 years at Michael G. Imber Architects, Partner Mac White has played a central role in elevating the firm’s reputation as a leader in modern traditional design, and brings his artistic perspective, vast travel experiences, and broad variety of interests to every project. His expertise encompasses classical design, architectural master planning, and historic preservation with vast experience on high-profile residential, commercial, institutional, and ecclesiastical design projects across the US and internationally. His work has earned national honors across numerous categories, most recently with 2023 Raphael and 2024 Palladio awards.
