Hosted by the Chicago-Midwest Chapter's Emerging Professionals Group, the Luminaries
You are invited by the ICAA Chicago’s Luminaries Young Professionals to an exclusive tour through the legendary Chicago Athletic Association Hotel.
Designed in the late 19th century by Henry Ives Cobb, architect of Newberry Library and the Union League Club of Chicago, this Venetian Gothic landmark served as a private men’s club for over 115 years. It was the hub of sports and business for Chicago’s social elite until its closure in 2007 for impending demolition.
On May 3rd, Krista Weir, Director of Historic Preservation and Project Architect at Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, will guide us through the building’s redevelopment and transformed spaces. Learn about the extraordinary process of preserving and restoring architectural details and its original design spirit while introducing a new hotel program and contemporary atmosphere open to all.
This building is part of the Historic Michigan Boulevard Landmark District and individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Luminaries will host a cocktail reception at the CAA after the tour. Special thanks to Beth Spencer, Project Manager at Power Construction and Luminaries committee member for organizing this event.
This event is hosted by an ICAA Chapter. Please check the Chapter website or contact the Chapter directly, for the most up-to-date details including dates, times, and pricing.
