Hosted by the Southeast Chapter
Please join ICAA Southeast and Shane Robuck for a lively illustrated lecture on the Italian Neoclassical period specifically focused on the Veneto region of northern Italy. Shane will discuss the social, political, and cultural aspects of life during the 100 years between 1750-1850 that influenced the furniture, interiors, and architecture of the region.
The Veneto is nestled comfortably between Lombardia to the West and its big brother Venezia to the East. A region influenced by both, yet uniquely its own. Lombardia with its austere ebonized darkness and exotic veneers, the ever proud state, versus Venezia with its curvaceous sensuality and welcomed Eastern influences. Confidently contrasted and complete with its own style lies Veneto. Largely lacking the grandeur of its neighbors, furniture from the Veneto region of the early neoclassical period relies on simplicity, regional materials, and a uniquely personal style.
Come along for a virtual exploration of this fascinating period in time with our guide Shane Robuck, who has been buying and selling Italian furniture for nearly 30 years. The acquisition of furniture and objects he finds thrilling, the restoration equally so. His goal is to find objects he has never found, to see things he has never seen.
Hosted online via Zoom. Zoom link and information will be sent to attendees upon registration.
