SKETCHING BENEDICT SATURDAY: An Exploration of Jacques Benedict’s WorksFILLIUS PARK:Fillius Park was one of the early resting spots along the scenic drives in the Denver foothills. A prominently placed and distinctive stone shelter designed by Jacques Benedict was built in 1918. The shelter openings are on the north façade, as it is oriented toward views of the Continental Divide. A large stone fireplace and beautiful log trusses make up the interior architecture of the rustic structure. The refined detailing of the shelter makes it one of the most important structures in the Mountain Parks system. Source: Denver Public Library/Denvergov.org
