Hosted by the Washington Mid Atlantic Chapter
This month, to coincide with the end of the 2019 National Cherry Blossom Festival, our Columns & Coffee event will be at the Jefferson Memorial. Situated at the southern edge of the Tidal Basin, this memorial to our third president looks out over the water and directly towards the White House. The memorial was one of the last buildings designed by John Russell Pope and opened after his death. According to the National Park Service, Pope wanted the building to pay homage to Jefferson’s own architectural interests, as seen at Monticello and the University of Virginia, and to celebrate Jefferson and the many roles he played in the founding of our democracy.
Because there are no coffee shops near the memorial, we will instead meet at the memorial’s bookstore at 10:00am. We will be sketching for about 2.5-3 hours, but people are welcome to come and go as they please.
This event is hosted by an ICAA Chapter. Please check the Chapter website, or contact the Chapter directly, for the most up-to-date details including dates, times, and pricing.
