Hosted by the Washtington Mid Atlantic Chapter
Columns & Coffee is a monthly social sketching excursion led by the L'Enfants, the emerging architects branch of the ICAA-WMA. Anyone with an interest in sketching and/or connecting with other artists and architects are encouraged to attend.
This month, we will be sketching at the Willard InterContinental. Henry Willard founded the hotel in 1847, when he consolidated and enlarged six existing buildings on the site. Since that time, it has become one of the most famous hotels in Washington, DC, and a temporary residence for numerous presidents and vice presidents. The current Beaux-Arts building, designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, opened in 1901. Its guest rooms, hotel bar, and “Peacock Alley” have nearly become the definition of luxury.
Participants should be prepared to bring their own materials.
We will meet at Swing’s Coffee at 14th and G St NW for coffee at 10:00am. We will be sketching for about 2.5-3 hours, but people are welcome to come and go as they please.
This event is hosted by an ICAA Chapter. Please check the Chapter website, or contact the Chapter directly, for the most up-to-date details including dates, times, and pricing.
