The ICAA is pleased to partner with Classical Excursions for a special tour exploring New Orleans’ unique architecture and vibrant culture.
We'll explore the city and the region's architectural legacy, from its early historical mix of French, Spanish, Caribbean and Creole influences to its current status as a capital of both preservation and contemporary design. Guests will tour the city’s famous neighborhoods, from the French Quarter to the Audubon area, visit the most significant historic house museums and enjoy the hospitality of local architects, designers and tastemakers.
This tour is arranged by Classical Excursions. Please note, that you must contact Classical Excursions’ Director, Lani Summerville to formally register for this program. Upon completing a registration form, submitting a deposit to Classical Excursions, and receiving a confirmation from Classical Excursions you will be considered registered for this program. The $500 donation to the ICAA should be made only after your registration has been confirmed. Please make sure you have received confirmation before making your donation. Payment of the $500 donation to the ICAA prior to registration does not guarantee placement on the trip. A fully tax-deductible donation of $500 per person is required to participate in this travel program. This donation should be made only after your registration has been confirmed. Please note that this donation is non-refundable except in the case that this travel program is cancelled by the organization. All travel program participants have the opportunity to receive a complimentary Individual level membership for one year to the ICAA.
French Quarter
Participants will embark on a guided walking tour of the French Quarter with architectural historian John Stubbs, visiting Jackson Square, the Pontalba Buildings, and Royal Street, with private access to select residences and landmarks.
Hermann-Grima House
Built in 1831 by William Brand of Virginia for Samuel Hermann, the Hermann Grima House is a Federal style home and historic museum in New Orleans’ French Quarter. It preserves the only surviving stable in the Quarter and the city’s only operational historic kitchen.
Gallier House
Gallier House is a historic home built in 1860 by local architect James Gallier, Jr. as his private family residence.
Madame John’s Legacy
Madame John’s Legacy is a historic French Quarter house museum, completed in 1788 in the French colonial style. Its name comes from George Washington Cable’s story Tite Poulette, referencing an earlier building on the site.
Beauregard-Keyes House
The Beauregard-Keyes House is a historic French Quarter residence, built in 1826 for Joseph LeCarpentier and designed by François Correjolles, blending Creole cottage and Greek Revival elements.
Faubourg Marigny, Bywater and Holy Cross Districts
Guided driving tour of the Faubourg Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods, including a stop at Lombard Plantation, one of the city’s last remaining West Indian-style Creole manor houses, before continuing to the Holy Cross District.
Lombard Plantation
Lombard Plantation is one of the city’s last remaining West Indian-style Creole manor houses.
Garden District
Participants will explore the Garden District and Uptown, with exclusive access to the exquisite homes of content producer and entrepreneur Permele Robinson, designer and writer Sara Ruffin Costello, entrepreneur Jane Scott Hodges and interior designer Nina Farmer.

Your $500 donation helps to further the ICAA’s goal of advancing the practice and appreciation of the classical tradition in architecture and the allied arts by supporting its varied educational programs, including continuing education courses, college workshops, the Summer Studio in Classical Architecture, New Heights, and many more.
Yes, a donation of $500 or $600 to the ICAA is required for each travel program you register for. The donation is required for each person attending a tour.
You can make your $500 donation to the ICAA online, or you can download, complete, and mail this form to the ICAA. You can alternatively fax a copy to 212-730-9649. You may also call 212-730-9646 x102 or email [email protected] to make a donation. Donations must be made separately from the registration fee.

No, membership is not required to attend an ICAA travel program. However, complimentary Individual membership to the ICAA is included with your $600 required donation.
