SR. ARCHITECT

We are seeking an experienced full time Sr. Architect with a bachelor’s degree in architecture (master’s degree and/or licensure is a plus) with 8+ years of experience designing classical projects (4+ years designing classical residences) and 4+ years leading a team of designers to join our collaborative team of highly-creative design professionals.

THE RIGHT FIT:

As an ideal candidate, you will bring your passion for the aesthetic and emotional impact of holistic classic design. You will have exceptionally compelling classical conceptual design talent (expert hand-drawn artistic skills will be a big plus). You will be confident & approachable, authoritative & collaborative with clients, with the ability to make personal connections with them. You will be intrinsically motivated and naturally eager to create a narrative that best articulates what each client is drawn to. You will bring clarity and focus to clients as your designs capture and express a feeling that they have found difficult to articulate.

You will be highly adaptable and thrive in an environment that can be demanding with rapidly changing deadlines and requirements. While driven to work hard, you will also enjoy having fun together with the team. You will find satisfaction in fostering camaraderie and trust with other team members as you rally together to fix problems and help drive a collaborative, high performance team.

ROLE TASKS:

The Sr. Architect works with the Principal to lead out in the conceptual design process as they direct and review the work of a team of designers. They capture and express the design intent, create design presentations, monitor project design development, and provide design direction and support to ensure consistent, high-quality design. They coordinate with Project Managers, produce renderings, models, conceptual design boards, as well as interior and exterior design details.

Occasionally, under the direction of the Principal, they may take primary design responsibility for projects entirely including taking the primary client relationship role, proposal pricing, deadlines, client satisfaction, and all project deliverables with the support/collaboration of the Principal and Project Manager as-needed. They may assist in developing new partnership relationships to foster trust in referring clients to the firm. They develop architectural designers’ capabilities and assist them in achieving their career aspirations. While holding team members accountable, they empower a team of designers to make independent decisions and take a collaborative approach to getting the work done.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture (master’s degree and/or licensure is a plus)
  • 8+ years of experience designing classical projects (4+ years designing classical residences)
  • 4+ years leading a team of designers.
  • Highly experienced in capturing the project program along with the emotional intent of clients
  • Exceptional hand-rendering skills
  • Very experienced in site placement
  • Very experienced in design development
  • Very experienced in redlining CDs (site, demo, floor plans, elevations & sections, reflected ceiling, finish schedules, interior elevations, schedule plans, design details, structural drawings, electrical drawings, and specifications).
  • Experience in 3D modeling (Sketchup, Revit or Chief Architect) a big plus
  • Experienced in preparing and delivering conceptual presentations to clients
  • Experienced in residential building code requirements
  • Experienced in residential construction, installation methods and construction materials & finishes (residential construction experience a plus).

This position will require the candidate to manage multiple projects and evaluate and determine how to best keep projects progressing while managing client expectations. Proficiency in Chief Architect or Revit preferred, but not required. Position allows for limited ability to work from home and requires candidates to regularly commute to the office and to job sites.
