A Discussion on the Frick Collection

With Director Ian Wardropper and Architect Annabelle Selldorf

    By ICAA

    June 26, 2019

On Monday, May 20, the ICAA hosted a discussion with Ian Wardropper and Annabelle Selldorf on the proposed renovation and enhancement to the Frick Collection’s building in New York City. The ICAA filmed the discussion, which can be viewed here in its entirety.

Ian Wardropper, Director of the Frick Collection, began with an overview of the goals for the renovation, and explained why the building needs to be updated to better house the Collection and meet the needs of visitors. Annabelle Selldorf, Principal of Selldorf Architects, then walked the audience through the proposed plans, and how they address each of these needs.

The talks were followed by a lively question and answer session, giving impassioned members of the public an opportunity to weigh in on the changes to the beloved Frick mansion.
