Hosted by the Louisiana Chapter | 4 AIA CES Learning Units|HSW & 4 credits towards the Certificate of Classical Architecture (Analytical Drawing)
Please join the ICAA Louisiana Chapter, Sara Sinclair, and Henry Bein for a 4-hour lecture and drawing course exploring the principles of building design, historic preservation, and environmental sensitivity. As Director of Maison Lafitte, Sara Sinclair possesses unique insights into the history of the house and its transition from a private residence to a vibrant event space. Sara will guide students through the integration of modern features, such as air conditioning systems, life-safety systems, and accessibility features, while maintaining the spirit and character of the house. Henry Bein, AIA, will introduce students to the principles of observational and analytical drawing, focusing on the classical elements and proportion that make up Maison Lafitte and its position within its immediate context and surrounding neighborhood.
This course presents a unique opportunity to learn about the important considerations required for preserving and modernizing historic buildings while maintaining their cultural and historical significance.
