The program was introduced by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, who offered his congratulations to the 2020 winners of the award, and expressed his firm belief in the importance of thoughtful architecture and design in creating humane places and healthy communities.
The moderated panel discussion featured past winners of the Award for Emerging Excellence in the Classical Tradition, including Emily Bedard, Cailin Nikel-Zueger, Imanol Iparraguirre, and Aritz Díez Oronoz, as well as the winners of the 2020 Award, Austin Tunnell and Gerald Bauer. The panelists discussed past and current projects, their experiences with working in traditional design today and how traditional design skills can be passed on to the next generation, and much more.
The Award for Emerging Excellence in the Classical Tradition recognizes exceptional talent exhibited by one young professional in classical and traditional architecture, landscape and interior design, building crafts, urban design and planning, or the allied arts. Launched in 2017, the Award is a collaboration between the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), The Prince’s Foundation (PF), and the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism (INTBAU).
